Carlton Miller Bean
Carlton J. Miller Bean, 85, a resident of Winter Garden, Fla., a former longtime resident of Scranton, died Wednesday at home.
He was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Scranton, the son of the late Carl J. and Mary Louise Miller Bean. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a graduate of the Eckels College of Mortuary Science, Philadelphia. He was a veteran of the Korean War, being honorably discharged from the Army. He was a former member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. He was the fourth generation in his family's funeral home, Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., working as a licensed funeral director until his retirement to Florida.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra Bean, Dunmore; and Barbara Emick and her husband, the Rev. Stephen Emick, Whitehall; two sons, Edward "Buddy" Bean and his wife, Susan, of Winter Garden, Fla.; and Michael Bean and his wife, Christine; his grandchildren, Joseph Cecci, Katherine "KT" Cecci, Edward "Buddy" Bean, Jennifer Bean, Michael Bean, Allison Emick, Emily Emick; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Miller Bean, and a brother, Edward S. Miller Bean.
As per his request, the funeral will be private. Arrangements were by the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc. and cremation took place at the Hickory Crematory and Cremation Services of NEPA. Interment will take place in Dunmore Cemetery.
