Obituary for Bruce J. Owens

Bruce J.  Owens
Bruce J. Owens of Nicholson died Sunday June 10, 2018 at the Allied Hospice Center. His wife of 63 years is the former Marilyn Schadt.
Born in Scranton he was the son of the late William and Beatrice Thomas Owens. Educated in Scranton schools, he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement he worked for Techniglass, and after retirement he worked at Sam’s Club as a greeter. Bruce was an avid sports fan and rooted for the Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco 49ers.
Bruce’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Dr. Mark Lyons, Advanced Home Healthcare Specialists, and to the nurses and staff at the Allied Hospice Center for all of their kind and compassionate care.
Also surviving are daughters Debra Coulon and husband Michael, Scranton, Susan Lasota and husband Julian, Hamlin; sons Gary Owens and wife Linda, and Brian Owens and wife Ellen, all of Scranton; grandchildren Timothy Lasota and wife Jessica, Daniel Lasota and wife Deepa, and Benjamin Lasota, Joshua Owens, Tara Jordan, Andrew Owens, step-grandchildren Benjamin Coulon and Shane Gerrity; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter Laurie Owens; brothers Robert & William Owens; sister Janice Osborne.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave. Scranton with Rev. Kenneth Claflin, Pastor of the Hamlin Assembly of God as officiant. Friends and family may pay their respects Wednesday from 4:00 pm until service time. Inurnment with Military Honors in Dunmore Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
