Michael A. Castellano, 92, of Scranton, died Thursday June 26, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Catherine Loftus who died in 1973.
Born in Scranton, the son of the late Rosario and Gabriella Castellano.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he was a proud Marine, serving with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater in World War II, and later was a dedicated Mail Carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He had very fond memories of his early years with the Petersburg Blue Devils baseball team, and the life-long friends he made there.
Known as "Pop" to those who loved him most, Michael enjoyed spending time with his close family, talking over coffee and pastries. He looked forward to large family gatherings with his four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Michael’s family would like to thank Mr. James Corby for his loyal friendship and support throughout the years.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Castellano of Scranton; Marty Castellano and wife, Dana, of Moosic; and daughter-in-law, Megan Castellano, of Moosic.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; three brothers, Frank, Peter, and
Raymond Castellano; and two sisters, Ann Touch and Mayme Bentivinga.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1:00 pm in Divine Mercy Parish 312 Davis St. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave. Scranton.
