Nancy Ann (Carling) Waverka, 80, of Scranton, died on Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center surrounded by her loving husband, George (Tom) and family.
Born October 8, 1937 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Grace Kime Carling and preceded in death by brother Walter Carling. She was a member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, Scranton. She was a graduate of Technical High School Class of 1955. Before retirement, she worked for Bell Telephone in various roles. She was an avid gambler and loved her regular trips to Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City, fleecing her friends in poker during their snow bird trips to Tavernier Key, Fl and her beloved Mahjong club.
She is survived by her husband, George (Tom); son, Robert Waverka and his wife Dong of Naples, FL; son, Craig Waverka and his wife Ellen of Gilbertsville, PA; daughter Marcie Renwick and husband Ron of New Milford, PA; nine grandchildren, Maggie and Raine Waverka (Naples), Kate, Casey, Luke and Logan (Gilbertsville), and Hunter, Spencer and Carling (Carli) (New Milford). She is also survived by brother, John (Jack) Carling of Moscow, PA and multiple nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday from 5-7 pm in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave. Scranton.
