Obituary for Frederick Harold Buttner

Frederick Harold  Buttner
Frederick Harold Buttner, 86, a long time resident of the East Mountain Section of Scranton died Wednesday September 19, 2018 at home after a brief illness. His wife of 57 years is the former Mary Margaret Kearney.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late George and Helen Leyh Buttner. He was a 1948 graduate of Johnson School of Technology. He was a 50 year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and the Joiners of America Local #445 and was a lifelong member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.
He had been employed by Hagen Lumber Co and Proprietor of Fred Buttner Building and Remodeling. His art of Carpentry exists not only in the home he built for his family but in many homes in the area, he was a Master Carpenter and Cabinet Maker. After retirement he was a valued employee of the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc.
Fred’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Richard Martin, the staff at Geisinger Hospital and Geisinger Mt. Pleasant, and to Allied Hospice for all of their loving and compassionate care.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Frederick G. Buttner and his wife Linda, Scranton, Paul C. Buttner, Scranton, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George J. Buttner and Robert K. Buttner
Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave. Scranton. Funeral services and interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502.
