Obituary for Martin Golob

Martin D. Golob, born Aug. 15, 1952, son of Charles and Louise Golob, passed away Friday at Geisinger
Wyoming Valley Hospital ICU Unit surrounded by his loved ones and his dog, Bandit. He grew up in Scranton and lived in Duryea and most recently in West Pittston. He was preceded in death by both his parents.
He was educated in public schools in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. He had a long and varied career, starting as a trumpet player in the band, Ralph. They played to record-breaking crowds throughout the northeast and produced an album in London. He went on to have a successful career in the auto care industry. He owned and operated Coast to Coast Core and Eastern Axle. In addition, he held management positions at Aragon Industries in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., and vice-president at ICS Strategies in Kalamazoo, Mich.
At the time of his demise, he had a successful eBay business, selling surplus auto parts. Marty was the eternal optimist, always believing in tomorrow, even during times of difficulty. He mentored many people, and, to this day, many credit Marty with the start up of their successful business. He is known for changing the car industry in the northeast, bringing changes to the pricing structure so it was a win-win situation for all. He used that phrase throughout his life, believing that both parties should benefit equally from any business dealings. Marty had a special way with all animals, and they all loved him. His “son,” Bandit, as Marty called him, was with him at the time of his death.
He is survived by soulmate, Bridget Clary, West Pittston and Port Royal, S.C.; sister, Paula Croom and husband, Bob, Madisonville; nephew, Larry Greenfield and wife, Genille, Scranton; niece, Sherry Tique and husband, John, Scranton; and lifelong friend of over 50 years, Cathy Barke, Scranton.
A memorial service will be held Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant. Bridget and family are requesting all to bring photos and memories of Marty to share.
Arrangements and on-site cremation was under the care of the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton.
