Obituary for Doris R. Noreika

Doris R.  Noreika
Doris Rose Kenyon Noreika, 90, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Monday evening in Allied Skilled Nursing were she was a resident for over a year. Her husband, Frank Noreika who died 11/1996.
She was born 1/25/1927, in Scranton the daughter of
the late Frederick Robert and Susan Sparaney Kenyon. She grew up at 436 Front St. in the Nativity section of Scranton, later moved to 336 Maple Street for over 30 years and in 1996 to McDade Apartments, now Delaware Towers. She was a member of Saint John Neumann parish and a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, until its closing. From 1968 to 1975 she worked part time at McCrory’s Luncheonette, south Scranton and Billy’s seafood and steakhouse, Dunmore.
Doris married her husband on 9/5/1960, he was a Lithuanian carpenter, they never had children. Doris did have a special little girl enter her life on 12/7/1948, a daughter, Doris was not prepared to be a mother and gave her up for adoption, today Janet is a Beautiful person, living in Scranton. Doris believed the Past is the Past and you must travel the road you paved. Doris was known for her 1970 Mercury Cougar, all white hound’s-tooth interior and roof, she enjoyed reading, the movies and spending time by herself.
A special thanks to Mrs. Fran Horton for a great business relationship, also thanks to Allied Long term care especially Judy, Maria, Leciqua, Ann Marie Hughes, and Patrick Pita for their outstanding care.
Surviving is her dedicated nephew and caretaker, David Sevensky and his wife, Dianna, Scranton, Cousins, extended family members of the Belardi, Crockenberg, Golden, Hiem, Lazzarini, Lieback, Matasavage, Rinaldi, Schmidt, Speranza and Zanghi families (in respectful alpha order); dear friend, Dolly Snyder, her lunch and shopping pal.
She was preceded in death by a sister in 1995, Theresa Kenyon Sevensky Gull; a nephew in 2015 Frederick P. Gull.
As per Doris’s wishes a blessing service will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, 436 Cedar Avenue. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
