David L. Stipp, “Big Dave”, Scranton, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, PA at the age of 70.

He was the beloved husband of Mary L. (Williams) Stipp to whom he was married for 50 years.
Born July 12, 1950 in Scranton, PA, son of Dorothy J. (Goetz) and the late Ralph M. Stipp, he graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1968. He worked as a Ford certified master mechanic for Koerner Ford for 25 years and was a partner/owner of Long Life Spring for the past 28 years.
He was very proud of earning his Eagle Scout rank. He was a founding member of the Villa Capri Cruisers and on the board of directors, he loved cars from a young boy, loved drag racing with his son, and body building at Peffer’s gym. He was an avid powerlifting coach to many. Dave enjoyed disco and it could always be heard playing in his truck. His favorite sports team was the Steelers and he watched many a game in his Steeler’s gear.
In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his son, David Aaron and wife Melissa, Dunmore, PA, his mother Dorothy (Goetz) Stipp, York, PA, a brother, Allan and his wife Donna Stipp, Bethel Park, PA, a sister, Ellen and her husband, Eric Chase, York, PA; three grandchildren, Dante, Isabella and Thomas, and several nephews and a niece. He leaves behind his best friend and cheeseburger eating pit bull, Lovie.
Big Dave was best known for his willingness to always help someone. His love of animals extended to his passion for nightly feeding of the birds and deer in his backyard.
A private celebration of Dave’s life will be held at the family’s convenience.
